That said, I am very happy with my leather strapwork and how well all the armor pieces moved. I had a surprisingly large range of motion despite being encased in worbla from neck to toe. Also, it looks damn cool. I wear the armor over a wet-look spandex suit that I made to cling as close to the body as possible the way Alita's does. Though the bust gets covered with the breastplate, Alita's bodysuit has definition around the breasts (rather than stretching from peak to peak), and I am proud to say that I achieved that. Now I am going to go back to sewing nice, simple, non-stretch textiles.
My weapon is articulated. The handle pieces swing fully around to encase the blade when it's not "in use".
Truthfully, the whole thing could have benefited from more time. I was in the middle of a lot of projects in graduate school and I lost a lot of time that I would have needed to make this costume as polished as I would have liked. It is on my wish list of "things I want to fix when I have time", but then, time is always the issue, isn't it?
